Microsoft renunţă la unicitatea Internet Explorer
Gigantul software Microsoft a anunţat că va folosi în cadrul sistemului de operare Windows şi alte browsere, nu doar Internet Explorer. În acest fel, Microsoft pune punct litigiului cu Uniunea Europeană privind concurenţa neloială.
Astfel, în cadrul noului sistem de operare Windows 7, Microsoft va introduce o casetă care va permite utilizatorului să îşi aleagă browserele dorite: Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox sau Opera.
Microsoft nu va instala alte browsere decât IE, însă va oferi clienţilor posibilitatea să şi le instaleze singuri pe cele dorite.
Decizia Microsoft este total diferită de cea propusă Comisiei Europene în urma cu o lună. Atunci compania americană susţinea că va comercializa Windows 7 fără niciun browser instalat.
Conflictul dintre autoităţile de reglementare din Europa şi Microsoft au fost declanaşate în luna ianuarie, câng gigantul software a fost acuzat că profită de poziţia dominantă pe care o are, pentru promovarea Internet Explorer.
Microsoft nu este la prima dispută cu autorităţile de reglementare. Compania a primit numai în ultimii cinci ani amenzi cumulate de peste 2 miliarde de dolari.

Twitters users need only to log in to twitcam.com using an existing Twitter user name and password and press the ‘go live’ button. Twitcam automatically detects the camera, creates a page and live video player for the broadcast, and posts the link in the user’s Twitter feed so followers can join in live.
Twitter-centric services for sharing photos and videos have been exploding and are in high demand by twitter users. Twitcam fills the application void for those wanting to stream live and chat with their followers with a single click.

Studiu: Socializarea in retea intra pe lista amenintarilor informatice
Retelele sociale Facebook, MySpace si Twitter, precum si blogurile reprezinta instrumente importante de comunicare, dar constituie totodata provocari suplimentare la adresa securitatii interne a organizatiilor.
Intr-o lume conectata cum este cea de astazi, amenintarile din interiorul organizatiei sunt mai mari ca oricand, potrivit unui nou studiu global realizat de Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu.
A treia editie a cercetarii Deloitte Global TMT Security Survey arata ca “exploatarea vulnerabilitatilor din tehnologiile web 2.0” si tehnologiile de “inginerie sociala”, precum pretexting-ul si phishing-ul, sunt percepute ca o amenintare la securitatea informatiei unei companii de catre 83 la suta, respectiv 80 la suta dintre respondenti.
De asemenea, diferentele intre generatii reprezinta un factor major de influenta in privinta gradului de confidentialitate al datelor. Modul in care generatiile cele mai tinere de angajati ai companiilor de tehnologie, media si telecomunicatii (TMT) percep sa distribuie informatia poate forta limita legilor traditionale privind protectia datelor. Respondentii sunt constienti de aceasta problema, 56 la suta dintre ei considerand ca “interpretarile culturale” reprezinta o amenintare pentru securitatea informatiei de la un nivel “mediu” pana la “foarte mare”, arata studiul transmis Agerpres de Deloitte Romania.
Studiul atrage mai atentia ca, in conditiile in care noi factori de vulnerabilitate apar in permanenta, companiile TMT sunt din ce in ce mai putin increzatoare in capacitatea lor de a face fata riscurilor interne de securitate. Anul trecut, doar 28 la suta dintre respondenti au afirmat ca au ‘mare incredere’ sau ‘extrem de multa incredere’ in capacitatea lor de a contracara riscurile interne, fata de 51 la suta, in 2007.
In ultimele 12 luni, 41 la suta dintre respondenti s-au confruntat cu cel putin o bresa de securitate interna. In plus, firmele nu dispun de resursele necesare pentru a face fata problemelor de vulnerabilitate in retea care ar putea apare. Doar 47 la suta dintre cei chestionati au in acest moment un program de protectie a datelor, si 44 la suta au un expert cu functie executiva a carui responsabilitate este protejarea informatiilor (fata de 50 la suta, cu un an in urma).
Totodata, multe companii TMT nu dispun de un program care sa monitorizeze gradul de conformitate al sistemelor de protejare a datelor (33 la suta), un regulament scris privind protejarea datelor (28 la suta) sau o directiva formala privind distrugerea informatiilor de natura personala (28 la suta).
Studiul Deloitte Global TMT Security Survey 2009 a fost realizat in baza unor analize si, cel mai adesea, prin discutii fata in fata cu reprezentantii a peste 200 de organizatii TMT din intreaga lume.

Numarul internautilor asiatici il depaseste pe cel al americanilor
Numarul internautilor din intreaga lume ar trebui sa creasca de la 1,5 miliarde in 2008 la 2,2 miliarde in 2013, dintre care 43 la suta ar urma sa fie in Asia si 17 la suta in China, potrivit unui studiu al firmei de consultanta Forrester publicat marti.
‘In pofida incetinirii economice globale, un numar crescut de consumatori se indreapta in fiecare an spre Internet’, a subliniat analistul Zia Daniell Wigder, care prognozeaza o crestere de 45 de procente a numarului de internauti in perioada 2008-2013, de la 1,5 pana la 2,2 miliarde.
Din punct de vedere geografic, ponderea Asiei va creste de la 38 la 43 la suta, in timp ce America de Nord nu va mai reprezenta decat 13 la suta din populatia de internauti, iar Europa doar 22 la suta (fata de 17 si, respectiv, 26 la suta in 2008). Cota Americii Latine ar urma sa ramana stabila la 11 procente.
China singura, gratie unui ritm anual de crestere de 11 procente, va avea in anul 2013 un numar de 377,1 milioane internauti, adica 17 la suta din totalul global, ceea ce o va plasa mult in fata SUA cu 260,5 milioane.
